Kevan, New Town Sec (Chem)

‘To me the most evident of what I have gained… is the fact that at the end of Sec 3 I was struggling to pass (comb)chemistry, but after Ms Ng started teaching me Chemistry, I have never once gotten lower than A1 for all my (combined) chemistry tests.’

My name is Kevan, and I am a recent graduate from Newtown Secondary school.

Personally I have been rather bad at chemistry ever since I started learning it in Secondary school, but it was even worse when I got to secondary 3. I didn’t really have any idea or solid way to link what I learnt in class into solid answers for questions. So when Ms Ng started tutoring me, I was surprised to find out that her teaching methods were extremely helpful so much so that I improved a lot in a short period.

The things I enjoyed/liked most about Ms Ng’s teaching methods would probably be the brilliant notes that she guided me through in making, as well as her constant use of questions (even extension of questions) to really ‘nail it in your head’ , or in other words to build an understanding of certain theories/topics.

An example would be when making notes about certain chapters, she would occasionally (more often than not) put questions at the end of the notes of that chapter. It not only tests you on your understanding but also allows you to refer back to the question to refresh the topic if you were to be rather ‘foggy’ or ‘rusty’ after a while. On the topic of the notes Ms Ng helped me create, they were detailed and concise, without excessive information that I would never have to use. I would even go as far as saying they were the best notes I ever made.

I can say without a doubt that Ms Ng’s teaching methods are extremely helpful and are, to me, the best tutor I could ask for.

I would definitely recommend Ms Ng to other students as she, to list a few, can help you solidify your foundational knowledge of the subject, efficiently teach you what you don’t know/need to know and give you ample practice to be ready for tests.

On a personal note, all her lessons were extremely fun to me, as I had never once felt like I was getting nowhere, and also because Ms Ng always made ways to make the subject all the more interesting to learn, whether it be through extra fun facts or a deeper reason behind certain theories in the subject (chemistry).

To me the most evident of what I have gained from Ms Ng’s lessons is the fact that at the end of Sec 3 I was struggling to pass (comb)chemistry, but after Ms Ng started teaching me Chemistry, I have never once gotten lower than A1 for all my (combined) chemistry tests.

All in all, Ms Ng’s lessons were both enjoyable and enriching, and I would definitely recommend Ms Ng to other students 😀
