There was a strange crackle around him..like the ominous and persistent splitting of an icy overhang just before it triggered a tsunami of catalyst towards disaster. Sounds that had accompanied him a millenia as he roamed camouflaged in the untainted glacial regions; his glorious white coat contrasting with sacred black markings fit for a majestic creature. What he was hearing was actually happening IN him. Neither could he comprehend, for he was ruled only by his animalistic side. Prowl, strike, feast, rest; that’s all this creature did.
An eerie calm enveloped him after the twilight was assaulted by a powerful burst of lime light just a split second ago but imploded almost immediately. An intoxicating cocktail of adrenaline and something powerful, something beyond this dimension, swelled his capillaries…his heart palpitating, squeezing tight one second and doubling in size the next. The agony caused the creature to let out a horrifying guttural sound that sent shockwaves into the ice kingdom before he collapsed.
Silence. Even the ice was frozen in time and stopped its protests.
A transformation had been completed in those few moments. The sacred markings on the creature’s back now seemed to shimmy to reveal an orange hue underneath. An unmistakable new coat that made the creature stick out like a sore thumb. A new silhouette that no longer made the creature formidable and fearsome.
As the creature came to and stood up, his big golly eyes blinked innocence into existence. “Where am I?” the child in a tiger suit spoke into the wind.
