Subject: Witnessing an accident on the M5 Expressway

Dear John,

How are you? You won’t believe what happened two days ago.

On 27 July at about 1 p.m., I was on my way to the rugby club for weekly practice when I witnessed a tragic accident happen on the M5 Expressway. I was on the overhead bridge near the club when I was stunned by ear-piercing screeches of tyres. I immediately turned towards the expressway and found vehicles crashing into a JB Wheaton & Sons lorry. Not only that, but a TNT lorry failed to halt in time and crashed headlong into other vehicles. Following which, another lorry collided into the TNT lorry, and caused massive explosions and fireballs that lit up the sky.

When that happened, I was utterly shocked by the sight of billowing, black smoke, and dialed emergency services, with me stumbling over my words. I hurried closer to the accident site where a crowd had already gathered. I whipped out my phone to record the aftermath of the accident. Soon enough, the law-enforcement officers, ambulance and fire services came to help the victims. As I was a key witness, I was pulled aside and interrogated for about two hours, with the police recording my statement. As a result, I had to miss my practice session.

In the evening, I found out that about 51 people were injured, with seven left dead, and there were a whopping 34 vehicles involved in the chain-collision.

I hope that you will not have to go through such a horrifying experience, as I spent countless hours reliving the nightmare.

Yours sincerely,

Jordan
